You may have noticed some changes here at Shoots HQ – we have a swanky new logo! The brilliant new ‘stamp’ logo has been designed by our friends at Seymour Creative.
We wanted our new look to reflect freshness, quality and simplicity – and we think our new logo does a great job! What do you think?
For the last couple of months we’ve been working hard here at Shoots HQ to locate some land to use for our project.
Birmingham is a big city – as the UK’s ‘Second City’ it’s growing all the time and any spare land tends to be quickly snapped up by developers, for new housing and for projects like HS2.
This makes it hard for community groups like us to compete – we’re priced out of the market to buy land directly, so leasing, renting or borrowing is our only option. Finding somewhere suitable, where we can set up the necessary polytunnels and other infrastructure to grow our salad, has proved to be a real challenge.
So we are very excited to say that we finally have something in the pipeline!
Following talks with the excellent folks at Birmingham City Council, we are in the running for a small piece of land in East Birmingham that has recently become available. It’s potentially perfect for our needs, and getting it would mean that we can get our project underway in time for the start of next year’s growing season.
So what happens next? Well as with anything involving land, there is a lot of legal paperwork and details to be worked out. We are now waiting for word from the council on when we can officially bid for it, and in the meantime we are keeping our eyes peeled for any other land that might become available – after all, it’s good to keep all our options open!
Thanks to all of you for your continued support – come and find us on Twitter to stay updated with our progress in the coming months.
